The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Foundation presents the debut performance of comedian Kathy Griffin in the Fred Kavli Theatre at 8:00 pm tonight, February 1, 2013.
Double Emmy winning and Grammy nominated Chicago native Kathy Griffin, a multi-faceted performer with a rapid fire wit, is known as an actress, stand-up comedienne, television personality, New York Times best-selling author and an LGBT rights advocate. Griffin first gained recognition for appearances on two episodes of Seinfeld, and later for her supporting role on the NBC sitcom Suddenly Susan.
After her various TV guest spots, Kathy began gaining notice as a stand-up comedienne and landed her own "HBO Half Hour Comedy Special." She was the star of the Bravo reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, for which she won two Emmy Awards as executive producer. Griffin has the most comedy specials of any comedian. She has also worked as a voice artist and red carpet commentator, in addition to several other career pursuits. For four consecutive years (2009-2012), she has been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album. In her bid to win a Tony Award, she made her Broadway debut in Kathy Griffin Wants a Tony in March 2011.
