Hector Suarez Set for Comedy Central Latin America's First-Ever Latin 'Roast'

Comedy Central Latin America announced today that it will bring the iconic "Roast" franchise to Latin America for the first time ever. The Emmy-award winning format, where the 'roastee' is subject to cruel criticism and harsh untold comical truths will feature legendary and controversial Mexican comedian Hector Suarez as the region's first 'Roastee.' The Comedy Central "Roast of Hector Suarez" will be taped in Mexico City, DF in May.

"When Comedy Central approached me for this project, I fell in love with the idea," commented Hector Suarez. "I know I'm setting myself up for disaster - it's the perfect opportunity for my friends and colleagues to get candid. Who knows what will happen!"

"Hector Suarez is a comedic genius whose legacy and creative Style has influenced generations of comedians and entertained audiences for decades," Federico Cuervo, Brand Manager of Comedy Central Latin America, said. "His enthusiasm over the project is inspiring, but I've apologized to him in advance for the plethora of insults and mockery that will take place that evening."

"It's amazing the great acceptance that Comedy Central has had in Mexico and Latin America. This successful format is not only a great success as a local production in the region, but it also brings new challenges and presents a great opportunity to explore new marketing in a multiplatform manner, "said Eduardo Lebrija, SVP / Director General VIMN The Americas Mexico.

Reaching more than 18 million households in Latin America across key cable operators including DIRECTV, Sky, Cablevision, Megacable, Cablemás, VIVO, OITV and ClaroTV, Comedy Central has quickly established itself as the "go to" destination for comedy in the region. The entertainment brand, available in both Spanish and Portuguese for its viewers in Brazil, offers a programming line-up of internationally renowned series such as "Happily Divorced", "Men at Work", "The Exes", "Retired at 35" and "Tosh.0". In addition, the network also offers animations, comedic movies, and original productions, including local editions of its stand-up comedy specials featuring Latin American talent.

Comedy Central Latin America is part of a portfolio of comedy channels managed by Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), which are seen in countries like the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, New Zealand, Hungary, Poland, Israel and Austria. Comedy Central is the only global, multiplatform brand that is 100% dedicated to comedy 24 hours a day. The channel is seen in more than 172 million households in 22 countries around the world.
