ComedySportz Announces 2013 Class and Camp Schedule

ComedySportz, Houston's longest-running improv comedy show, announces their 2013 Improv Class Schedule, with offerings for kids and adults of all ages. There's no script for life, so everyone must improvise as they go along! Students will feel more comfortable with this after ComedySportz's classes, and are guaranteed to have fun while learning.

ComedySportz's adult classes are taught on Monday or Tuesday evenings throughout the year. Improv 101, the introductory workshop, emphasizes basic improvisational skills by exploring spontaneity, staying in the moment, risk-taking (getting out of your comfort zone), finding the story within the scene, developing characters, and other fun stuff in a relaxed and supportive environment. Participants can then move on to the intermediate Improv 201, which expands on basic improv skills.

Adults who have completed both classes are eligible to be members of the ComedySportz REC League, an amateur troupe that practices weekly together and performs on the last Sunday of each month.

Camps for kids are offered throughout the summer months, and consist of week-long sessions designed to get kids ages 8-12 or teens ages 13-17 up on their feet and having fun. Daytime camps teach the basics to just the kids, or a new Parent-Child class offered in the evenings gets parents involved too, making improv a family affair.

All classes are facilitated by a seasoned ComedySportz professional, and participants are led through various improv activities and games that work on and incorporate the skills that are used in improvisational comedy, including focus, concentration, teamwork, space work (using your environment in scenes), trust and scene work. You will learn to be fearless and have fun on stage! Laughter and positive vibes are guaranteed.

All classes are held at The ComedySportz Arena, 901 Town & Country Blvd. (I-10 West and the Sam Houston Tollway), and all classes and camps culminate in a special public performance at the ComedySportz Arena.
