
American Conservatory Theater presents comedian Marc Maron as the headliner
for ACT and ACT One's 12th annual ACT Comedy Night, a benefit for the
ACT One Scholarship Fund. The Sunday, May 20, event at the American
Conservatory Theater (415 Geary Street
in San Francisco)
kicks off at 6:30PM with a no-host cocktail reception, followed by an 8PM
performance.
Marc Maron is a celebrated comedian, author, cultural
critic, and former Air America Radio host. A regular guest on "The Late Show with David
Letterman" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," Maron has been featured in his
own stand-up specials for both HBO and Comedy Central. He has shared the stage
with today's hottest comic talents, including Jon Stewart, Denis Leary, and
Jeanine Garofalo, with whom he starred in the popular New York stand-up series, Eating It. Maron's acclaimed one man
show The Jerusalem Syndrome: My Life as a
Reluctant Messiah played to audiences off-Broadway and the prestigious
Aspen Comedy Festival.
Two other comedians have also been added to this year's
Comedy Night line-up. Joe Klocek is a veteran of the Bay Area comedy scene and
frequent host of comedy nights at Cobb's Comedy Club and San Francisco's Punchline Comedy Club. Having
worked with some of the biggest names in stand-up-including Robin Williams,
Kevin Nealon, and Greg Proops – Klocek is the host and co-creator of the Punchline's
monthly comedy game-show GET IT!? A
frequent host at Cobb's Comedy Club, upcoming stand-up artist Misha Wolf
performs regularly with comedians Marc Maron, Carlos Alazraqui, and Roy
Zimmerman.
Founded in 1995, ACT One is a social and educational
affiliate of ACT. ACT One's members demonstrate their love of theater through performance
attendance, special events, volunteer work, and fundraising.
American Conservatory Theatre is located at 415 Geary Street, San
